Four years after a testicular cancer diagnosis (detected during a doping control) and a return to racing four months post-surgery, he became only the third Norwegian ever to wear the maillot jaune, after Thor Hushovd (now his team manager) and Alexander Kristoff. Mads Pedersen won the stage.
