The milestone arrived during a 4-3 win over the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Wilson handled five chances cleanly, including a popout, a groundout, and a 4-6-3 double play that ended the fourth inning. Wilson took pregame grounders with teammates two hours before first pitch, a routine he keeps every day he plays short. His father, Jack Wilson, was a 12-year big-league shortstop who drilled a defence-first approach into his son. “He taught me defence first before the hitting side of things,” Wilson told reporters afterwards.
