Sol Claims Ninth World Title in Big Air Kite

Mikaili Sol has won the 2026 GKA Big Air Kite World Championship, sealing the title with victory at the season-ending stop in Mykonos. It was the ninth world title of her career.

A final in the Meltemi wind, settled in the late afternoon

The women's final ran late in the day at Korfos Beach, driven by the strong northerly Meltemi. Sol shared the water with Aya Kasabova, Francesca Maini and Sarah Sadek, each within reach of the title. The atmosphere on the beach was tense.

Sol rode one of the best heats of her career. She posted 22.54 points and cruised back to shore with the win secured. Kasabova took second, Maini third and Sadek fourth.

A ninth title, and a fourth in Big Air

She had built the path with control. As a top seed she advanced straight to the semi-finals from Round 1, then led clearly by the midway point to move through with Maini. In the final it never slipped.

The win is Sol's fourth Big Air crown, added to four Freestyle titles and a GKA Air Games title. At 21, the Brazilian now holds nine world titles. She took the season standings ahead of Alessa Sophia Mensch and Kasabova, having reached Mykonos after losing the season opener at the freezing Lords of Tram.

"I was just really enjoying myself," Sol told Adrian Kerr on the KiteSurf365 podcast. "It made all the difference and you're seeing it in my riding. I was smiling."

Now almost 22, she closes the season at the top of a sport she has led for years.
