Delannoy Claims Fifth Kite-Surf World Title

Capucine Delannoy secured her fifth Kite-Surf world title at the GKA Kite World Cup Sylt, winning a close final at Brandenburger Strand on the last day of the 2026 season.

A final decided by fractions

The title came down to a head-to-head fight between Delannoy and Switzerland's Camille Losserand. Deep into the heat, the two were split by fractions of a point, with the North Sea delivering the strong wind that had finally arrived on day three of the event.

Losserand started well but made a tactical choice midway through, switching kite size to chase bigger scores. The change did not work, and she struggled to land the tricks she needed in the closing moments.

Delannoy stayed steady and calm throughout. She rode with the same control she had shown in the semi-final against Charlotte Carpentier, where she posted an overall score of 30.80 points to book her place in the decider.

A quiet run of titles

The French rider first became world champion in 2022, then lost both the Big Air and wave-riding crowns. She later called the years that followed a comeback, built on a simple wish to return to the top of her sport.

That return gained speed in Dakhla, Morocco, a year earlier, where she sealed her fourth title with a clear lead in the overall rankings. Sylt turned a strong recovery into something more settled.

A fifth title, won with patience while a rival took the bigger risks, marks a rider who now owns her discipline.
