USA Women Claim Tenth Lacrosse World Title, Fifth Straight

The USA Women's Lacrosse Team won the 2026 World Lacrosse Women's Championship in Tokyo, beating Canada 16–4 in the final. It was a tenth world title, and a fifth in a row.

Eight goals before Canada could answer

At Prince Chichibu Memorial Stadium, the United States scored twice in the first quarter, then added six more in the second. Canada did not reach the scoreboard until Erica Evans found the net with less than a second left in the half, by which point the Americans led 8–1.

Goalie Shea Dolce set the tone, making seven of her eight saves in the first thirty minutes and taking the Player of the Match award. Eleven different players scored, with Sam Apuzzo leading the way on three goals and two assists.

Canada kept battling in the second half, with goals from Aurora Cordingley, Avery Morton and Kassidy Morris. The United States held its shape, out-shooting Canada 22 to 12 and controlling the draw 13 to 10.

A fifth straight title, and 36 unbeaten

The five consecutive championships set a new event record, passing the run of four the U.S. women won from 1989 to 2001. The team has now won 36 straight games in senior field competition, its last loss coming in the 2005 final against Australia.

The path to Tokyo was one-sided: the Americans beat six opponents by a combined 121–27, and midfielder Ally Kennedy was named tournament MVP. "They just played the right way. That's what we wanted," head coach Acacia Walker-Weinstein said afterwards, asked if this was the greatest team in women's lacrosse history. "They are the best of all time."

For a squad stacked with Tewaaraton winners and All-Americans, the tenth star is set. The next championship will be the first played with a shot clock.
