On a Saturday night in his home nation, Chico Kwasi settled a score and kept his crown. The Dutch fighter defended the GLORY welterweight world championship at GLORY 109, defeating Bulgaria’s Teodor Hristov by unanimous decision at the RTM Stage in Rotterdam.
A trilogy closed on home ground
The bout was the third chapter in a fierce rivalry. Kwasi had won their first title meeting by unanimous decision early in 2025, before Hristov answered with a bitter, non-title loss during the COLLISION 8 tournament.
At the official weigh-ins, nothing separated them. Kwasi registered 76.6 kilograms, while Hristov came in at 76.7 kilograms.
Double champion, double motivation
The challenger arrived aiming to become the first Bulgarian GLORY world titleholder. Kwasi stepped in carrying a professional record of 46 wins, 6 losses and 2 draws, reinforced by a new status.
Kwasi had recently captured the GLORY middleweight title, making him the promotion’s latest two-division champion. The home crowd witnessed a double champion refusing to let history slip away.
Hristov pressed to turn his previous victory into gold, but Kwasi controlled the contest across the full distance. When the final scores were read, they confirmed the Dutch fighter as the undisputed winner, closing the trilogy with a second championship defence.
The night added no new belt, but it proved one truth again. On Dutch soil, Chico Kwasi remains the welterweight standard.
