Marc Paré defended his crown at the Playa Surf Wind & Waves Festival in Tenerife, winning the men’s Wave event on a finals day that pushed the fleet to its limits. The victory at El Cabezo powered the Spaniard toward a maiden world title.
Howling wind and a packed beach
The wind screamed at 30 to 45 knots and head‑high waves marched through the El Médano line‑up. The beach was packed for a festival that had returned to the Canary Island spot for the first time in five years. Paré answered with fast, critical, committed wave riding that left no doubt.
In his semifinal, Philip Köster posted a 35‑point barrage through explosive jumping. Paré, riding Simmer Style, answered minutes later with an even bigger score and carried that momentum into the final. This was Paré’s third consecutive Tenerife win, adding to first‑place finishes in 2024 and 2025. The five‑star unified PWA World Wave Tour event reinforced his command of the break and pushed him squarely into world‑title contention for the 2026 season.
By the close of the year, that campaign would deliver his first career world title. A decade after his PWA debut in 2014, the Spaniard wearing sail number E‑334 had moved from contender to champion.
