Sarah-Quita Offringa secured her place in windsurfing history once more, claiming her fifth women's Wave world title at the Playa Surf Wind & Waves Festival in Tenerife. The victory, achieved on the final day of competition at El Cabezo, represents her 29th PWA world title overall, a tally no other windsurfer has matched.
A final push through violent conditions
The finals unfolded in brutal northwest winds that howled between 30 and 45 knots, whipping the Atlantic into head-to-logo-high waves. In a tense semi-final against Germany's Lina Erpenstein, the two riders traded the lead without respite, Erpenstein’s powerful frontside attack met each time by Offringa’s complete, clean-jump-to-carve response.
The triumph marked her first-ever Wave event win at a venue that had stubbornly kept her off the podium in previous years.
Twenty-nine titles, five in the waves
The 2026 crown confirms Offringa as the most decorated athlete the sport has ever seen. Her collection now stands at 17 Freestyle, 7 Slalom and 5 Wave world championships, with this particular title going back-to-back after her 2025 success.
Weeks earlier, she had fought from behind at Fuerteventura to clinch the freestyle crown, making this second title of the European summer feel like a statement of sustained dominance. Erpenstein finished second on the day, ahead of Spain's Alexia Kiefer Quintana in third and Poland's Justyna Sniady in fourth.
In a discipline where raw power meets split-second reading of the sea, the Aruban once again proved the most complete performer on the tour.
