Nolot Crowned Formula Kite European Champion

Lauriane Nolot is the 2026 Formula Kite European Champion. The French rider sealed the women's title in the Medal Series at Akyaka, on the Turkish coast, closing a race that had run right down to the wire.

A tangle at the bottom mark opens the door for Nolot

The women's Medal Series was hard-fought from the start. Switzerland's Elena Lengwiler pushed the contest into a decider, with Lengwiler, Nolot and Jessie Kampman of the Netherlands each holding a race win.

In the final race, Kampman led around the bottom mark before becoming tangled with Wan Li of China. The gap opened, and Nolot took it. Despite what the race report called shaking legs on the last gybe, she held her nerve to the line.

She crossed first to take the crown, with Kampman second and Lengwiler third on the final podium. The same day, Gian Andrea Stragiotti of Switzerland won the men's European title on his birthday.

A first European crown to sit beside three world titles

The result completes Nolot's collection. She is already a three-time Formula Kite world champion, winning in 2023, 2024 and 2026, and took silver at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the inaugural women's event.

The European title had stayed out of reach. In 2024, Kampman overtook Nolot on a downwind leg to deny her the same crown. Two years on, in Akyaka, Nolot turned that story around against the same rival.

For a sailor who had won almost everything else, the continental title now fills the last gap in her record.
