Stiliana Nikolova claimed the clubs world title at the 2026 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Frankfurt with a score of 30.150 points. It was the Bulgarian's first senior world crown after eight previous silvers, and she secured it by the finest of margins in the Festhalle.
Gold decided by a tenth of a point
The clubs final closed the championships on Sunday evening before a packed German crowd. Nikolova delivered a routine that matched her best apparatus mark of the week, posting 30.150. Ukraine's Taisiia Onofriichuk and neutral athlete Mariia Borisova both scored 30.050, leaving a gap of just 0.100 points between gold and the rest of the podium.
Onofriichuk took silver with a higher execution score, but the night belonged to Nikolova. She admitted later she did not know her mark would hold until she finished her ribbon routine and heard the news.
Eight silvers, one first
The 20-year-old arrived in Frankfurt as the European all-around champion. She left with four medals: clubs gold and silvers in the all-around, ribbon, and team events. The all-around silver was her second straight world runners-up finish, keeping her just behind Germany's Darja Varfolomeev, who swept three golds at home.
The clubs victory also carried a family echo. Nikolova's mother, Paulina Nikolova, was a two-time world group all-around champion for Bulgaria in 1983 and 1985.
"I didn't know if it would be enough," Nikolova told reporters afterwards. "I cried because I didn't expect it."
With a quota place for LA 2028 already earned, Nikolova leaves Frankfurt having turned a string of near-misses into the title that steps her out of a champion's shadow and into her own.
