Kazimierska Takes Diamond League 1500m Title in 3:54.05

Klaudia Kazimierska won the women's 1500m at the Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels in 3:54.05. The time set a world lead, a meeting record and a Polish national record. It also handed the Pole the 2026 Diamond League title in the event.

An underdog who left as the year's fastest

Kazimierska arrived in Brussels outside the list of favourites. She broke Faith Kipyegon's 2024 meeting mark of 3:54.75 and never gave the lead back. The race closed the 2026 season at the AG Memorial Van Damme.

Kenya's Dorcus Ewoi, the world silver medallist, tracked her through the race and pushed all the way to the line. Ewoi took second in a personal best 3:54.72, with Australia's Jessica Hull just behind in 3:54.73. The top three finished within 0.68 seconds of each other.

Ethiopia's Tsige Duguma, the season's world leader, stepped off the track mid-race and did not finish. Georgia Hunter Bell of Great Britain came fourth in 3:56.40, having sat too far back to answer the finish.

A first Diamond League win in a wide-open season

This was the first Diamond League victory of Kazimierska's career. Her best result on the 2026 circuit before Brussels had been second place in Rome. The women's 1500m had run wide open all year, with six different winners across eight meetings after an injury to Kipyegon.

The win capped a fast rise. In August she took European silver in Birmingham, then set a national record of 3:55.59 in Silesia. She improved that mark again in Brussels, two days after her 25th birthday.

Kazimierska now ranks sixth in the world at 1500m. She left Brussels as the fastest woman over the distance this year.
