Seungmin Seong and Changwan Seo seized the Mixed Relay world title in Guiyang, scoring 1,096 points. The South Korean duo finished 18 seconds ahead of Belarus after a Laser Run that left no doubt.

A Laser Run that decided everything

The race swung on the final leg. Korea came into the run with a slim cushion, and Seo covered the distance in 13:01.50. Belarus pushed past Hungary, yet the Koreans stayed clear at the front.

Fencing steel, swimming calm

Korea built their platform early in the Fencing hall. They were the last team standing, beating Russia’s Melikhova and Borshchev in the decisive top‑two bout. A solid swim kept them on course while others scrambled.

Belarus took silver with Viyaleta Hureyeva and Yauheni Arol. Hungary’s Blanka Guzi and Zsombor Tarkanyi claimed bronze. Hosts China, with Wu and Luo, placed sixth by finishing sixth in every discipline.

"We achieved a pretty good result today, and we are very happy," Seo told reporters. "Today's competition was a classic battle, and I will make full preparations for the individual competition ahead."

Seong, the 2024 world champion and an Olympic bronze medallist, now has a new relay crown. Her partnership with Seo gives Korea a quiet edge as the individual rounds begin.
