Scheffler Wins Second FedExCup, Joins Woods and McIlroy

Scottie Scheffler won the 2026 Tour Championship at East Lake by three shots. He closed with a 4-under 66. The win gave him his second FedExCup and a place among the game's great names.

From three back to the trophy

Scheffler started the last round three strokes behind the leader, Viktor Hovland. He was two behind Ryan Gerard. Few would have picked him to catch both men by the close.

He chased them down all afternoon. His round of 66 was the lowest score among the men in front. Step by step, the deficit shrank.

The finish turned on holes 14 through 16. Hovland missed birdie looks on all three. One putt burnt the edge on the 16th green, and the door closed for good.

Two names, now a third

Scheffler finished at 16-under 264 to win by three. Gerard held on for third, sinking a nervy par putt at the last. That putt was worth two million dollars.

With the win, Scheffler joined a short list. Only Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy had won the season-long title more than once. He is now the third.

The victory was his 22nd career PGA Tour title. It was also his third of the 2026 season. It moved him past Woods for the most career earnings in tour history.

"Coming from behind and being able to win tournaments is a really cool feeling," Scheffler told the crowd at the trophy presentation. "This was a week I brought a lot of good energy to the course."

The run has been long and steady. Since his first Masters in 2022, he has added a second green jacket, more majors, and Olympic gold in Paris. This second FedExCup, three years after his first, fits the same quiet pattern.
