Hauke Narten completed a rare double-gold run at the 2026 Wheel Gymnastics World Championships in Göttingen. On 3 July, he won the Cyr Battle world title, just 24 hours after claiming the all-around crown. A home crowd in the Sparkassen-Arena watched the German master two very different tests in quick succession.
Precision under battle pressure
The Cyr Battle began on the morning of 3 July with more than 20 athletes facing a preliminary round and then a judged knockout. Narten moved through the field with calm precision. In the final rounds he prevailed against strong challengers from Japan and Spain, leaving the jury with no doubt.
The format demands that each performer convince the panel in a direct head-to-head contest. Narten's lines and control inside the wheel did exactly that. The home arena acknowledged the victory with sustained applause.
A decade of world titles
This double gold extends a career that started with a first world title in Lignano Sabbiadoro in 2015. Narten won the inaugural official IRV world crown in 2022 and added a world silver in Almere in 2024. His all-around win in Göttingen, leading a German one-two ahead of Timon Kielgas, had already set the tone for the week.
No athlete has carried a Cyr wheel world-title collection across as many cycles as the German has. The battle gold adds a fresh shape to that record, showing mastery in live, head-to-head performance.
The Championships continued with the artistic programme finals. For Narten, the third day closed a chapter that will sit plainly in the record books—two entries, two golds, one home soil.
