Jonquel Jones came off the bench at the United Center and left it holding a piece of history. Named MVP of the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game, she scored 22 points in front of a record crowd of 19,783 fans , adding 13 rebounds and eight assists for Team Spoon. With that performance, Jones became the first player in WNBA history to win all four of the league's MVP awards.

The night in Chicago

The exhibition began loosely, shots raining from range and defence an afterthought. Jones brought order. Team Spoon was led by Jonquel Jones, who finished just shy of a triple-double with 22 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists. She worked the interior, controlled the glass and set up teammates as the game tightened. Kelsey Mitchell led the opposing side with 28 points, while Marina Mabrey scored 23 off the bench , keeping the contest within reach before Team Spoon pulled clear late.

Jones did more than fill a box score. A six-time All-Star, she became the first player to lead her team in points, rebounds and assists and record a double-double in four All-Star Games. The Bahamas native also became the league's first international player to win the All-Star Game MVP.

The evening carried private weight. In her speech after winning the award, she mentioned that her aunt had passed away and that her aunt's memorial was earlier that day, so she was happy she could play well in her aunt's honour.

"This one holds a special place in my heart now," Jones told ESPN after the game.

A career, completed

The award closed a circle years in the making. The forward was Finals MVP in 2024 and league MVP in 2021, and now becomes the fourth player in WNBA history to win the regular-season, Finals and All-Star awards at least once, joining Lisa Leslie, Maya Moore and Candace Parker. She earned regular-season MVP during her 2021 season with the Connecticut Sun, took home the Commissioner's Cup MVP in 2023, and won Finals MVP in 2024. The All-Star trophy stands alone as the piece no one else has gathered.

Jones was averaging 14.8 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in her fourth season with the Liberty heading into the All-Star break , and she remains the anchor of a team that reached the top of the league. In Chicago, that steadiness turned into something rarer.

Four awards, one player. The record now reads only her name.
