Vali Höll won her fifth straight elite downhill world title in Val di Sole, crossing the line in 4:01.558. The 24-year-old Austrian finished 1.7 seconds clear of the field, sealing a perfect 2026 season that also brought her the World Cup overall crown.

A gap built in the first two splits

Morning rain left the Black Snake course slick and wild. After her teammate Lisa Baumann set a strong target, Höll started her run knowing the last rider to beat her at a Worlds, Myriam Nicole, had withdrawn through illness.

The race was decided early. Höll attacked the top sectors and opened a gap Baumann could not close, even with a fast push across the lower half of the track. The margin stayed firm right through the finish.

Five titles, four years of control

The victory puts Höll level with Rachel Atherton on five world titles, behind only Anne-Caroline Chausson's nine. Her grip on the rainbow jersey began on this same hill in 2021, when Nicole took the win and Höll turned a narrow loss into a long reign.

"The World Championships are a special race, where it's worth putting everything on the line," she told reporters before the final. From the first pedal stroke, she rode like a champion who meant every word.

Hattie Harnden took bronze, 2.046 seconds back. A new generation keeps pushing, but in the race that matters most, Höll still stands alone.
