At Lago del Salto in Rieti, Eugenia De Armas claimed the Open Women world title with a final score of 78.0. The victory made her the first three-time world champion in the history of cable wakeboard.

A perfect run in familiar waters

The 27-year-old Argentine led from the start. She topped qualification with 72.7 and matched that level with another 78.0 in the semifinals. Then she delivered the same commanding score when it mattered most.

South Korea's Hyun Jeong Shin pushed hard but finished second on 71.7. The Netherlands' Sanne Meijer took bronze with 68.3. More than 160 riders from 23 countries gathered for the championship, yet De Armas never looked likely to surrender the crown.

Three titles, one historic first

This was her third world title and the ninth international championship of her career. She first stood on the podium in this same Italian venue in 2022. She repeated in China two years later.

No other woman in the sport had ever claimed three world crowns. The porteña turned professional at 16 and has carried Argentina's flag in wakeboard ever since. She was also the first woman to land a Back Roll.

The moment closed a circle that began at Club Náutico de Escobar. She first held a handle there as a five-year-old, her sister Victoria beside her.

She left Rieti as she arrived: the standard everyone else is chasing.
