Charlton and Forrest Take Pentathlon Relay World Gold

Ross Charlton and Sebastian Forrest won the men’s relay world title for Great Britain on the opening day of the 2026 UIPM Pentathlon World Championships. The pair scored 1,513 points at the event in Guiyang, China, leaving the field well behind.

Nineteen points clear at the finish

The British duo built their lead on the Obstacle and Laser Run legs, the decisive stages of the relay. They pulled away from Russia’s Yegor Gromadsky and Andrey Bobrov, who took silver with 1,494 points. The 19-point margin made the final moments calm for the new champions.

A gold on Russia’s return to the worlds

Germany’s Marvin Dogue and Moriz Klinkert claimed bronze with 1,487 points. The race marked Russia’s first appearance at a World Championships since 2019. Great Britain’s win stood as the clear statement on a day when two relay titles were decided.

The gold continues a steady rise for Forrest. He won a mixed relay title as a 16-year-old at the 2023 U17 World Championships. For Charlton, it is a first senior world podium.

The championships in Guiyang run through to August 30.
