Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team clinched its record-equalling 10th FIA World Rally Championship manufacturers’ title at Rally Chile on Sunday. The crown was confirmed when Oliver Solberg and co-driver Elliott Edmondson delivered a composed victory on the gravel stages around Concepción.
Six in a row, ten in all
The Japanese squad arrived in Chile needing only seven points to make the title mathematically certain. A sixth consecutive manufacturers’ crown never looked in doubt. The streak matches the run Lancia built between 1987 and 1992.
A 16.6-second margin that settled everything
Solberg controlled the rally across three days, beating nine-time world champion Sébastien Ogier by 16.6 seconds. The gap was built steadily and then guarded on Chile’s punishing forest tracks. No frantic final-stage drama was required.
The victory was Solberg’s second of 2026, adding to a season-opening triumph at Rallye Monte-Carlo. “Everything was perfect this weekend,” the team told reporters afterwards. The result also pushed Solberg squarely into the drivers’ title frame with two rounds remaining.
A season of quiet domination
The Chile win was Toyota’s 11th from 12 rallies this season, including eight one-two finishes. All five of the team’s crews have now won multiple events in 2026. In the standings, Toyota sits on 614 points, with Hyundai second on 410 and the Toyota WRT2 squad third on 227.
The 10th manufacturers’ title draws Toyota level with Lancia’s all-time benchmark. For a programme that returned to the WRC only a decade ago, the parity carries its own quiet weight.
