Dina Thorslund became the undisputed women’s bantamweight world champion on Saturday night. The Dane unified the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO belts with a shutout points win over Cherneka Johnson at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando.
A shutout from the opening bell
Thorslund set a fierce pace with pressure, heavy volume and clean combinations from the first round. Johnson, the reigning champion, never found an answer. A flush right hand in the fourth and another that snapped Johnson’s head back in the fifth marked the turn.
Ten rounds, no doubt
By the ninth round Johnson was bloodied and still being beaten to the punch. All three judges scored the contest 100-90, handing Thorslund every round. The punch statistics underlined her control, a 103-62 edge in power punches built from a relentless attack.
Thorslund improved her professional record to 25-0 with nine knockouts. Johnson fell to 19-3, her four-fight winning streak ended.
“This has been such an emotional journey for me the last year,” Thorslund told reporters afterwards, fighting back tears.
The victory completes a remarkable return. Thorslund vacated her belts in June 2025 after announcing her pregnancy and later suffered a miscarriage. She returned to the ring in January 2026 and dropped back to bantamweight to reclaim the titles she never lost inside the ropes.
After the verdict, Thorslund celebrated in the ring with her son.
