On a Father's Day afternoon inside Rio's Maracanãzinho arena, Cordano Russell wrote the sharpest ending of the 2026 Street League season. The Canadian stepped onto his board for the final attempt and scored a 9.3, the highest single mark of the entire contest. He took the SLS Rio Takeover title with 27.5 points.

A quiet deck silences the arena

The format was simple and cruel: seven standalone tricks, no warm-up lines. Russell entered the last rotation trailing Brazil's Giovanni Vianna, who had just thrown two nine-club scores to whip the crowd past 7,000 voices. The Canadian's answer was one clean trick that cut through the noise and stole the lead.

Vianna falls, the margin freezes

Vianna, the 2023 Super Crown champion, still had the last skate. He dropped in with the whole building on its feet, needing a single clean land, and fell. The gap locked at 0.6 points, with Russell at the top and wildcard Wallace Gabriel in third at 24.5.

"Cordano deserves it," Vianna told the crowd afterwards. "He skated better than me, that's for sure, and that's why he's leaving with the trophy." The words matched the direct feel of the final, no excuses, just the board telling the truth.

This was Russell's second SLS Takeover win, after his Cleveland title in 2025. It came inside the first skate contest ever held at the Maracanãzinho, on a day when Rayssa Leal had already delivered a women's crown to Brazil earlier that afternoon.

Russell walked off the course quietly. A Canadian name was stamped onto a Brazilian party, the trophy already in his grip. The tour now turns toward Tempe, but Rio will remember whose board spoke last.
