The Canadian stepped onto his board for the final attempt and scored a 9.3, the highest single mark of the entire contest. He took the SLS Rio Takeover title with 27.5 points.

The format was simple and cruel: seven standalone tricks, no warm-up lines. Russell entered the last rotation trailing Brazil's Giovanni Vianna, who had just thrown two nine-club scores to whip the crowd past 7,000 voices. The Canadian's answer was one clean trick that cut through the noise and stole the lead.

Vianna falls, the margin freezes

Vianna, the 2023 Super Crown champion, still had the last skate. He dropped in with the whole building on its feet, needing a single clean land, and fell. The gap locked at 0.6 points, with Russell at the top and wildcard Wallace Gabriel in third at 24.5.
