Rose Wins ILCA 6 Women's World Championship

Charlotte Rose is the 2026 ILCA 6 Women's World Champion. The American sailor won the title on Dublin Bay, off Dún Laoghaire, on the last Saturday of racing.

Nine-point lead defended in a windy Dublin Bay decider

Rose held a nine-point lead going into the two-race Final Series. Friday's racing had been cut short by very light winds. Saturday brought a big change, with a breeze of 12 to 17 knots and waves.

She took second behind Britain's Matilda Nicholls in the first race. A sixth place in the last race was then enough to win the crown on 23 points.

Belgium's Emma Plasschaert took silver on 28 points, five behind Rose. Denmark's Anna Munch won bronze on 34 points. Hungary's Maria Erdi won the final race to finish fourth.

Third American, first non-European in twenty years

Rose is only the third American woman to win the title. She follows Paige Railey, who won in 2005. She is also the first non-European champion since Lijia Xu of China in 2006, ending a European hold of two decades.

"I'm so happy and proud of myself for coming into this championship and believing in myself," Rose told reporters afterwards. "I came to the start line every day afraid that I wasn't going to do well, but as soon as the gun went, I backed myself and went for it."

She praised her rivals as much as herself. She called her training group one of the best in the world. The next chapters of that rivalry now start from a new mark.
