José "Mincha" Canosa won Moto X Best Trick gold at X Games New Orleans 2026 with a frontflip double seat-grab Indian air, a move no rider had landed before. He tucked both hands behind the seat mid-rotation, then set the wheels down clean.
A world first on a 100-kilo bike
The trick asks the rider to leave both grips as the machine turns over, trusting balance and timing alone. Mincha held the pose deep into the flip, brought his hands back, and rode away with the ramp still under him. The Caesars Superdome crowd saw a move the sport had only talked about until then.
He edged out a strong field on the night. The Spaniard finished ahead of Australia's Rob Adelberg, who took silver, with American Patrick Ewans third for bronze.
First Spanish gold in the discipline, at 23
The result carries weight beyond one contest. Canosa becomes the first Spanish rider to win X Games gold in Moto X Best Trick, and he did it at just 23.
It came weeks after his X Games debut, where he took silver in Chiba, Japan. In his first two appearances at the event, he now holds one silver and one gold.
Canosa spoke plainly about the roots of the moment. "It is a dream come true. Since I was a kid I watched Travis Pastrana at the X Games and dreamed of being here one day," he told reporters afterwards, adding that the dream had arrived with a gold medal.
The season is not finished for the rider from Galicia. He turns next to the FIM Freestyle GP World Cup, decided on 28 November in San Sebastián, another home the sport has given him.
