Nyjah Huston won his seventh SLS Super Crown title in São Paulo, scoring 36.8 points to end a five-year wait for the trophy.
A perfect start on the 15-stair
Inside the Ginásio do Ibirapuera, Huston opened the final in the Line Section. He landed a nollie frontside nosegrind down the 15-stair rail. A switch frontside bluntslide on the big rail followed, and the judges gave him 9.2 — the best Line score of the day.
Three tricks, no reply
The Single Trick section turned into a duel with 2023 champion Giovanni Vianna, who had the home crowd behind him. Huston stepped up and stomped a nollie backside heelflip lipslide the big rail for 9.3. His next attempt, a nollie backside kickflip lipslide fakie, earned another 9.3.
He closed the run with a switch heelflip frontside boardslide for 9.0, making his last attempt a victory lap. Vianna put together a strong 36.2 total, but the 0.6-point gap was already safe.
Seven crowns, fourteen years apart
Huston first won this event in 2010 as a 15-year-old. The São Paulo win came weeks after his 30th birthday and followed X Games Ventura gold and an Olympic bronze in Paris earlier that year.
"It takes a lot of work to keep going at this level," he told reporters. "I just turned 30 a couple weeks ago. So this is a great start to the golden year."
The Californian stood on the podium holding the gold he had not worn since 2019, his longest gap between Super Crown titles.
