Farres Seals MX2 World Title in Only Second Full Season

On a sun‑baked afternoon at Darwin’s Hidden Valley Motorsports Complex, Guillem Farres rode his Triumph to second place in the opening moto and sealed the 2026 FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship — the first world riders’ title for the British marque, delivered in only his second full Grand Prix season.

A one‑two finish, a title decided

Farres and teammate Camden Mc Lellan seized command of Race 1 from the very start.

The moment the chequered flag fell, the arithmetic was closed. A runner‑up finish was enough — Farres did not need a victory of his own to make the championship official.

Spain’s second world‑champion Sunday

Farres became Spain’s first male motocross world champion since Jorge Prado in 2024, and the first MX2 crown for the country since Prado’s back‑to‑back 2018–2019 titles. The achievement came on the same day another Spanish rider claimed a world title at the same circuit.

With the championship already secured after Race 1, Farres eased off in the second moto and finished the Australian GP fourth overall. The work was done, and the celebrations could begin.

From two continents to Triumph’s summit

Farres’s route to the title ran through Europe and then America, where a stint racing was heavily marked by significant injuries.

Within three years of Triumph’s return, the team had already clinched the MX2 manufacturers’ title. Farres and Mc Lellan then locked out the top two positions in the riders’ standings, giving the marque a historic maiden MX2 riders’ crown and a clean 1‑2 championship sweep.

A multi‑year deal to race the TF 450‑X in the premier MXGP class had been confirmed before the Australian round. The champion will graduate carrying the same factory colours into 2027.
