Four straight heat wins put Australia in charge

The final at PGE Narodowy opened with a statement. Brady Kurtz, Ryan Douglas, Jason Doyle and Max Fricke won the opening four heats in succession, before a crowd of over 40,000 fans.

From there the contest tightened.

A 24-year wait ends on a second place

Australia scored 38 points to finish clear of Denmark on 30, Poland on 29 and Great Britain on 23. Kurtz's second place in heat 19 sealed the first Australian World Cup since 2002 at Peterborough.

Doyle, who had never before won the World Cup, described the moment after the finish. "I have tried for years with Team Australia and to see us do this is something special," he told reporters afterwards.

The last missing title falls into place

Before the final, the 39-year-old had called the World Cup the only 21st-century world championship missing from his collection. He now holds the 2017 Speedway GP crown, Speedway of Nations gold from 2022 and 2025, and the 2026 World Cup.

The win also completed a team double for Australia, following their 2025 Speedway of Nations triumph in Torun. For Doyle, the set is now complete.

No Australian rider has ever held all three world titles at once. The record now belongs to him.
